The Writer’s Lounge Ep. 8: King Kamayera

As he coins himself “a black man with a voice”, King Kamayera uses his voice to bring life to the wanderers, the worriers, and the forgotten. He offers a comfort to audiences through embodiment and sincerity. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY and originally from Mali, one of the people’s favorites, and with the aim to inspire all writers and spoken word poets, King Kamayera continues to show up and share, making his voice heard, known, and felt by emoting, through words, the most vulnerable parts of the human mind.

King Kamayera has made appearances on many platforms, including Voices in Power, multiple out-of-state features, and a local presence that allows spectators to indulge in the moment of his poetry floating through the room. Kamayera’s words are filled with hope, power, and lyrical touch.

He revolves his presence around being an inspiration to others, as well as himself. Standing up tall for the shy, introverted teenage Kamayera. And advocating for the current self that he is continuously blossoming into. He has a voice that will command your attention to the stage and we are proud that this stands true in his life today. A caterpillar turned butterfly story of bravery.

Growth through poetry, performing, and writing has allowed King Kamayera to soar to new heights. While still reaching higher with dreams of selling out stadiums and theatres around the world with his words and his voice being center stage, we are honored to be a part of the journey of growth, realized courage, and success.
